Each piece in our collection is meticulously crafted in Portugal, a country renowned for its rich heritage of textile artistry. We have worked with our mill there since the beginning of our journey. Our commitment to quality is uncompromising, using only the finest materials to ensure every product is as durable as it is exquisite.

Our Founder
Gilly realised she wanted to be an entrepreneur during her early teens. She spent many an hour dreaming of different business ideas, but it was following the desire for travel and adventure in New Zealand that really brought the idea to life.
Whilst living and working in Wellington, she came across the bespoke bed linen business that provided the final missing piece to her dream. Working for a luxury, boutique brand, she learned hands-on about how to run and grow a small business – the ups and downs, wins and disappointments. But more importantly, she experienced the enjoyment clients would feel watching their bespoke designs and creations come to life. The nature of the product meant listening to clients’ needs, understanding their designs, building and nurturing the relationship with them and fulfilling all expectations.
All of which became the building blocks for the foundations of Gilly Nicolson Ltd, which was setup in 2007 after returning to Scotland.
The business has grown steadily over the years, and so in 2021, Gilly invited her lifelong friend Sally to join the business and really build the Creative Direction. With an enormous amount of experience working in luxury brands, design and marketing, Sally is a perfect fit.
Creative Director
With over 25 years of experience working in the textiles and design industry, Sally brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge and creativity to her role as Creative Director.
Based in Scotland, Sally spent 14 years designing tartans and tweeds for high-profile corporate clients and families. Her impressive portfolio includes collaborations with Glenmorangie, Drambuie, The Crown Prince of Bahrain, Qatar, and Etihad Airways, showcasing her ability to create bespoke designs for the luxury market. Her passion for textiles, colours, patterns, photography, and interiors is evident in every project she undertakes.
Sally’s career has also included working in the property market, helping estate agents elevate their brand visibility and digital strategies. This diverse experience has given her a unique perspective and a broad skill set, which she brings to her current role.
Sally’s creative vision perfectly aligns with Gilly’s aspirations for the brand. Together, they lead an ambitious team working on projects here in the UK as well as globally, celebrating individuality and the transformative beauty of bespoke design.
