Bring a Little Outside In!

With summer on its way, outside is bursting with lush foliage and an array of beautiful colours. It really does brighten your day when you step outside.

So why not bring a little outside in?

What helps you fall asleep?  Reading, a candle lit bath, counting sheep or maybe the sound of rain? Have you ever thought that nature can help with that? While many people keep plants in their kitchen and living spaces, there are a variety of plants that induce calming effects, purify the air and are known to help promote a healthy sleep pattern. After all, studies clearly show that spending time in nature reduces stress levels, so why not simply bring nature indoors?

Here are five plants that not only look great but will naturally give you the best sleep ever!

1. Lavender

Lavender is a fragrant plant from the Mediterranean that has been used for centuries as a sleep aid. It may be the best-known natural remedy for sleep and relaxation around.  Among a lot of research, studies show that the sent of lavender improved sleep quality. People used to fill pillows with the fresh-smelling blue blooms as an effective method for inducing relaxation and sleep. This beautiful plant will improve the style of your bedroom and should promote better sleep, improve mood, and reduce anxiety.

2. Gardenia

With glossy evergreen leaves and amazing scented blossoms, gardenias are a popular plant choice for bedrooms. This plant not only looks extremely pretty but is a master at relieving anxiety and promoting sleep.  Gardenias can be tricky to maintain as they require a lot of attention in order to keep their luscious leaves and delicate flowers. They should be kept in a bright room, but not placed in direct sunlight. If you struggle with insomnia or anxiety, investing a little time in one of these beautiful blooms could be a healthier solution to getting a good nights rest!

3. Jasmine

This exotic plant has a gentle, soothing effect on the body and mind. The smell of the Jasmine should provide you with high quality sleep and let you enjoy increased alertness and productivity during the day.  With such beautiful pink or ivory blossoms, why not add a pretty little Jasmine to your boudoir!

4. Aloe Vera

This plant is often listed as one of the best bedroom plants as it helps with purifying the air. This plant emits plenty of oxygen at night, which helps you sleep better. Another benefit to raising an aloe plant in your bedroom is that it usually does not require frequent watering. Just make sure that you position it by your windows as it requires plenty of direct sunlight

5. Peace Lily

The moisture given off by these striking flowers can boost a room’s humidity by up to 5%. This suppresses airborne microbes which can lead to allergies, and also helps relieve those irritating dry noses and throats that keep you awake all night. This is probably one of the most popular bedroom plants that you’ll find as it grows fairly well in high or low light areas. You can place it near the windows to help encourage blooming however the peace lily can also thrive well in low light.
